Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee

Our Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee would like to welcome you to join us at our next meeting! The Amida Care Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee is an advisory group that meets quarterly to discuss issues regarding drug therapy in order to ensure that our decision making is mindful of the concerns of both members and providers. Important Notice:
Walgreens and Duane Reade Drug Stores
are no longer part of Express Scripts

Effective January 1, 2012, Walgreens and Duane Reade Drug Stores are no longer part of the Express Scripts Pharmacy Network which is the pharmacy benefits manager for Amida Care members. As a result, you will no longer be able to get your prescriptions filled at a Walgreens or Duane Reade Drug Store.

But do not worry; it’s easy to change drug stores. There are a lot of other drug stores in New York to choose from. You could use our online pharmacy locator tool (click here), or call our Member Service toll-free number 1-800-556-0689 for assistance locating another pharmacy that is convenient for you.

Once you have chosen a new pharmacy, you can move your medicines to a new drug store by doing any of these things:
    • Ask your doctor to call your new drug store.
    • Take your medicines to your new drug store and ask your new drug store
     to call your doctor.
    • Call Express Scripts at 1.877.508.1379 to get help in transferring your
     prescriptions to your new drug store.

Amida Care is a New York State sponsored HIV Special Needs Plan (SNP) that provides health care services for people on Medicaid living with HIV and their children. Amida Care services Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx, Queens and Staten Island. Starting September 1, 2010, if you live in New York City, choosing a Special Needs Plan or a regular Medicaid managed care plan is mandatory for PLWHA.
