Sima Toussi, MD, Pediatric HIV/AIDS Specialist, Joins Amida Care as Medical Director

New York, NY (February 16, 2017)—Amida Care, New York’s largest Medicaid Special Needs Health Plan (SNP) for people with chronic conditions such as HIV/AIDS, today announced that Dr. Sima Toussi, MD, has joined the organization as Medical Director. Dr. Toussi brings more than eight years of experience focused on infectious diseases, particularly HIV.

As Medical Director, Dr. Toussi will be responsible for ensuring that Amida Care continues to provide excellent, coordinated care to all members and working with colleagues to continue to make strides toward ending the HIV epidemic. An Associate Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Weill Cornell Medical College, she previously served as the Medical Director of the Pediatric Clinic for Special Studies at Cornell, which provides medical care to HIV infected children and adolescents.

Dr. Toussi received her medical degree at Dartmouth Medical School. She completed her residency training in pediatrics at Jacobi Medical Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She remained at Albert Einstein to complete a fellowship in Pediatric Infectious Diseases at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore, where her research focused on HIV infection and pathogenesis.
