Amida Care Has Joined Two RHIOs

Regional Healthcare Information Organizations (RHIOs) statewide are achieving connectivity and adopting common standards to confidentially exchange data within the New York State Health Information Network. To better serve our members, Amida Care has forged partnerships with two RHIOs: the Bronx RHIO and Healthix.

To obtain data, the Bronx RHIO collaborates with health care organizations that serve many Amida Care members in the borough, including Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center, Montefiore Medical Center, St. Barnabas Hospital Bronx, Housing Works, Brightpoint Health, and Harlem United.

The Healthix RHIO connects physician practices and health care organizations in Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, and parts of Staten Island, including such facilities as Mount Sinai Health System, SUNY Downstate Medical Center, and Callen-Lorde Community Health Center.

Amida Care can receive health care data only from members who are active and have provided consent. Our participation in RHIOs benefits members by improving care coordination and expediting requests for medical records, while also guarding confidentiality. Providers benefit by gaining access to a patient’s health care information when and where it is needed.

Other features under development include real-time alerts on member admissions and discharges; access to the clinical portals of both RHIOs to view test results, care plans, and other documentation; and weekly electronic feeds of lab data.
