World AIDS Day: Remembering and Recommitting

World AIDS Day

Today marks the 35th anniversary of World AIDS Day. This year’s theme is “World AIDS Day 35: Remember and Commit.” It is a moment to reflect on the progress made, acknowledge lingering challenges, and celebrate our ongoing dedication to end HIV. As we contemplate the themes of combating HIV-related stigma, honoring those lost, and advancing toward a future without HIV, we also reflect on Amida Care’s 20-year journey of advocacy and care.

In our commitment to work toward a future characterized by just and equitable health care for all affected by HIV, including women, transgender individuals, and young men of color, we aspire to make cutting-edge HIV treatments, such as long-acting injectable HIV treatment and PrEP for HIV prevention, accessible for all.

Two decades ago, a group of community leaders and visionaries came together to create Amida Care, convinced that the people we were serving needed more care, not less. There were many challenges to overcome, but we persevered because of our drive to do something unique and special for the people we serve.

Our work is not done. There’s a lot more to do and more people to reach–essentially everyone who would benefit from Amida Care’s approach to health care and our advocacy for impacted communities.
