Amida Care Hosts an Evening of Fitness in Fort Greene Park with Support of NYC Council Majority Leader Laurie Cumbo

June 28 2021

Free Wellness Event Promotes Healthy and Active Living

On June 25, Amida Care hosted a community fitness event at Fort Greene Park, Brooklyn.  The evening was free and open to the public and included fun fitness activities led by Alwayz Fit 4 Lyfe. This event was part of Amida Care’s “Live Your Life” program, a concerted effort to keep healthy and active lifestyles at the center of people’s everyday lives. The event was made possible with support from New York City Council Majority Leader Laurie Cumbo.

Amida Care holds monthly Live Your Life wellness events in which members and their guests learn about ways to get and stay healthy. In addition to fitness classes, the events cover topics such as healthy cooking, art therapy, dance, meditation, aromatherapy, and more. Friday’s event marks a return to in-person activities, after more than a year of conducting Live Your Life events online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“At Amida Care, we know that fitness and a holistic approach to health are essential. We want our members’ social, physical, and emotional needs to be met so they can live healthier, well-balanced lives. That’s why we host our ‘Live Your Life’ events: to encourage people to be physically fit, eat healthy, and take care of their social and mental well-being on a regular basis. We’re thankful to have the support of New York City Council Majority Leader Laurie Cumbo in our effort to help Brooklynites live their healthiest, most authentic lives,” said Doug Wirth, President and CEO of Amida Care.

“Ensuring that Brooklynites have the opportunity to maintain a healthy lifestyle has always been a priority of mine. I am glad to support Amida Care’s ‘Live Your Life’ wellness events, which enable members of our community to come together, enjoy some exercise, and have fun at the same time. Events like this are essential to making healthier choices all year long, and I’m proud to partner with Amida Care to make them happen,” said New York City Council Majority Leader Laurie Cumbo (District 35, Brooklyn).
