February 11 2020

Brooklyn, NY – On February 8, Amida Care, a not-for-profit New York community health plan, partnered with Alwayz Fit 4 Lyfe and ReForum Consulting to host a community health event at Public School 21 in Brooklyn. An interactive fitness session was led by Alwayz Fit 4 Lyfe, and a mental wellness session was led by ReForum Consulting. This event was part of Amida Care’s “Live Your Life” program, a concerted effort to keep healthy and active lifestyles at the center of people’s everyday lives. The event is made possible thanks to support from New York City Council Member Robert E. Cornegy, Jr.

“At Amida Care, we know that fitness and a holistic approach to health are essential to a healthy life. Our ‘Live Your Life’ events encourage people to be physically active, eat healthy, and take care of their social and mental wellbeing every day. For Healthy Heart Month, we’re taking action by hosting this event, which raises awareness about the strong connection between exercise and good cardiovascular health. We’re grateful to have the support of Council Member Cornegy, who has always made health a priority in Brooklyn,” said Doug Wirth, President and CEO of Amida Care.

Amida Care holds monthly Live Your Life wellness events throughout the five boroughs of New York City, where members and their guests learn about ways to get and stay healthy. In addition to fun and active fitness classes, the events cover topics such as healthy cooking, art therapy, dance, meditation, aromatherapy, and more.

“Amida Care is not your average health plan: they have shown their commitment to help the members of our community maintain a healthy lifestyle. I am proud to work with such a great partner to galvanize my constituents to be mindful of their cardiovascular health,” said New York City Council Member Robert E. Cornegy, Jr. (Brooklyn).
