Amida Care Applauds Mayor de Blasio, Council Speaker Johnson, and Board of Health for Fighting to Make Birth Certificates Accurately Reflect Gender Identity
Under a proposed amendment passed unanimously by the New York City Board of Health on Tuesday morning, and legislation introduced at the City Council this afternoon, New York City is set to allow individuals to change the gender on their birth certificate to one that affirms their gender identity, including the option to select “X” to designate their gender as non-binary, intersex, or another form of gender identity.
