On Saturday, November 2, Amida Care President and CEO Doug Wirth was honored by Hudson River Health Care (HRHCare) at its annual Cornucopia Benefit at the Altman Building in Manhattan. The benefit raised over $600,000 to fund the comprehensive primary and preventive health services that HRHCare provides to more than 225,000 people in need throughout the Hudson Valley, New York City, and Long Island.
Watch Amida Care president and CEO, Doug Wirth describe Amida Care’s unique history of service to people living with HIV and partnership with HRHCare and Brightpoint Health:
“I feel deeply honored to receive this award,” Wirth said at the event. “Amida Care and HRHCare are in sync when it comes to helping New Yorkers with complex health conditions get healthy and stay healthy … Just like HRHCare, we believe in whole-person wellness, and that means that you have to go beyond medical care to serve your neighbors well.”
Also receiving awards in honor of their support of the HRHCare mission were Scott Fein, CEO of BioReference, Jeffrey and Catherine Pavero, owners of Pavero Farms and Cold Storage Corporation, and Brightpoint Care Board Chair John Russell.
Founded over 40 years ago, HRHCare merged in 2018 with Brightpoint Health, an Amida Care sponsor organization, and is one of the largest Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) networks in the country. HRHCare’s HIV/AIDS care programs include comprehensive HIV/AIDS treatment, prevention, and education programs across their network of 43 health centers throughout the Hudson Valley, New York City, and Long Island.
