Amida Care Proudly Participates in AIDS Walk New York

Amida Care was a proud participant in the 31st annual AIDS Walk New York in Central Park on May 15. The 10-kilomenter fundraising walk raised over $4.5 million this year to benefit Gay Men’s Health Crisis (GMHC) and more than 40 tristate area AIDS service organizations. Amida Care’s team of staff, members, and their families joined 30,000 walkers in support of AIDS Walk and to demonstrate continued support for ending the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the NYC community and worldwide.
“Every day GMHC delivers life-saving services which is made possible because of the generosity of AIDS Walk supporters who over the course of 31 years have raised over $145 million to support people living with and affected by HIV and AIDS,” said Kelsey Louie, CEO of GMHC. “Every walker who participated today is paving the way for us to once and for all demand a cure and eradicate this virus.”

AIDS Walk New York’s ceremony included vocal performances from LaChanze (If/Then, The Color Purple) and Jay Armstrong Johnson (Madam Secretary). Notable participants included Rosie Perez (The View), Bebe Neuwirth and Erich Bergen (Madam Secretary), Conrad Ricamora (How to Get Away with Murder), Kit Williamson (Mad Men), Nick Adams (Priscilla, Queen of the Desert), and Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach (Miss Universe). Elected officials in attendance included New York State Assembly Members Dick Gottfried and Jo Anne Simon and Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer.
AIDS Walk is the largest single-day AIDS fundraiser in the world. For over 30 years, AIDS Walk New York has inspired nearly 890,000 people to walk and millions more to donate, raising more than $144 million to combat HIV/AIDS.
