Amida Care Proudly Participates in NYC LGBTQ Pride March

June 26 2018

Amida Care was a proud participant in the 49th annual NYC Pride March on June 24 in Manhattan. With thousands of spectators lining the route and over 80 floats, New York City’s March is the largest in the world. A team of staffers, members, and friends of Amida Care marched and rode on Amida Care’s float with the theme: “Be Yourself…With Pride!” Amida Care specializes in helping members living with chronic conditions such as HIV and people who are of transgender experience or homeless (regardless of HIV status) live their most authentic, best lives.

Organized by Heritage of Pride, the Pride March is a part of NYC Pride Week’s events throughout Manhattan for LGBTQ and allied people of all ages. The theme of this year’s march was “Defiantly Different,” celebrating the diversity of the LGBTQ community and unifying against unprecedented attempts to discriminate against them in the short time President Trump has been in office. Serving as Grand Marshals of the March were tennis champion and activist Billie Jean King; transgender advocate Tyler Ford; Executive Director of the Eastern Caribbean Alliance for Diversity and Equality, Kenita Placide; and representatives of Lambda Legal.

New York City will be the first WorldPride location in the United States in 2019, celebrating the Stonewall Riots’ 50th Anniversary.
