Liaam Winslet of Colectivo Intercultural TRANSgrediendo Wins ACAP Honorable Mention

Liaam Winslet, Executive Director of Colectivo Intercultural TRANSgrediendo, has been awarded an Honorable Mention for the 2024 ACAP Leadership in Advocacy Award, which was given to Judy Mohr Peterson, Hawaiʻi Department of Human Services Med-QUEST Division Administrator. The annual award celebrates individuals who clearly exceed the norm in advocating for Medicaid and other safety net health programs and on behalf of the individuals these programs serve.
The honor is in recognition of Liaam’s work as a community leader, health educator and transgender rights activist and advocate. She has devoted her life and career to fighting for equitable healthcare and other rights for the transgender and non-binary and gender nonconforming communities in Ecuador and New York City, as well as “immigrants, impoverished and unemployed people, sex workers, people living with HIV, survivors of violence, and the forgotten.” Ms. Winslet was nominated for the award by Amida Care.
