Pride Center of Staten Island Announces Amida Care as the Official Presenting Sponsor for Staten Island PrideFest 2016
June 20 2016
The Pride Center of Staten Island is partnering with Amida Care to present PrideFest 2016. PrideFest is held each summer in commemoration of National Pride Month. The partnership pairs New York’s largest special needs health plan with Staten Island’s LGBT communities, and will underwrite a dynamic series of programs and events to the broader community, including the PrideFest festival, an older adult “Senior Prom,” a Trans* Open Mic Night, a 5K Run/Walk, and more. Pride week begins Saturday, July 9th, and culminates with PrideFest’s Main Event at Snug Harbor on Saturday, July 16th a day-long festival featuring entertainment, food, family and fun!
“PrideFest is an opportunity for LGBTQ people from across Staten Island to celebrate our lives and families with our allies in a visible, positive way. We are grateful to Amida Care for its support of Staten Island and for its history of work in the LGBT and HIV communities. This year also marks a milestone for the independence of the Pride Center of Staten Island, so it’s like a Coming Out Party for us, too!” said Ralph W. Vogel, Executive Director of the Pride Center of Staten Island.
“Amida Care works closely with providers in Staten Island to help LGBTQ people get the high-quality health care they deserve to be healthy and get about the business of living their lives to the fullest,” said Doug Wirth, President and CEO of Amida Care. “Partnering with the Pride Center of Staten Island and community organizations throughout New York to honor the LGBTQ community during Staten Island PrideFest Week is a real joy and honor. Together, we can support LGBTQ community health, wellness and vitality!”
