Special Screening of Gun Hill Road in Honor of Trans Day of Visibility
March 19 2024
On Sunday, March 31, Amida Care is co-presenting a screening of the film Gun Hill Road in partnership with NewFest, New York’s leading presenter of LGBTQ+ film and media; and Destination Tomorrow, grassroots agency and Bronx LGBTQ+ center.
The event will take place at Destination Tomorrow’s Bronx headquarters, 448 East 149th Street, on March 31 from 5 to 8 pm, with the screening starting at 6:15.
Set in the Bronx, Gun Hill Road is a family drama about a father who comes home from jail to find that his child is transgender. The story focuses on how they try to understand each other and fix their relationship. It’s a powerful movie exploring themes of acceptance, identity, and family dynamics.
Transgender Day of Visibility is an annual event dedicated to celebrating transgender people and their contributions to society, as well as raising awareness of discrimination faced by transgender people worldwide. With approximately 30% of our members identifying as transgender or gender-expansive, Amida Care is proud to honor the day.
