Celebrating the Diversity of Pride in NYC
This Pride Month, there are more events than ever to celebrate in and around New York City. One of the great things about LGBTQIA+ Pride is its wonderful diversity, encompassing various identities, ethnicities and communities.
In addition to the iconic NYC Pride March and PrideFest in Greenwich Village at the end of the month (6/30), there are several other events around town hosted by NYC Pride.
One of the best ways to experience the diversity of Pride is checking out community and neighborhood events, such as Queens Pride in Jackson Heights (6/2), Brooklyn Pride (6/4-6/15), Sunny Pride in Sunnyside, Queens (6/14), HMI Youth Pride (6/15) at Pier 76 in Manhattan; Destination Tomorrow Da Bronx Pride (6/22), and Harlem Pride (6/29). We hope to see you at one or more of these events—look for Amida Care’s table, where we’ll have LGBTQ+ health resources and giveaways. Or even better, volunteer to help out at one of these or another event in your community.
Aside from marches and festivals, there are many other ways to celebrate the month, such as visiting the Stonewall Monument Visitor Center, the first LGBTQ+ visitors center in the National Parks System, planned to open on June 28, or attending one of many film screenings (virtually or in-person) at NewFest Pride taking place May 31-June 3, plus NewFest’s outdoor screenings throughout June.
