Art & Creativity – A Special Issue of Amida Care View Community Magazine
November 26 2018
Marking the 30th annual World AIDS Day on December 1, 2018, Amida Care published a special community magazine, entitled Art & Creativity.
Art & Creativity celebrates the power of the creative arts to heal, inspire, and mobilize. It features artists and organizations across a broad range of mediums, from sculpture and painting to music and filmmaking.
The magazine highlights stories of photographers, pianists, actors, writers, and others whose work often moves and delights us while also raising awareness of ongoing efforts to end the epidemic. These trailblazing artists keep finding novel ways to motivate us as we continue to combat HIV/AIDS.
Some have painted murals to memorialize those killed in the PULSE nightclub massacre in 2016. Others have developed animated videos to share the scientific finding that people living with HIV who have an undetectable viral load cannot transmit HIV to their sexual partners.
The magazine also features gifted creators of the NYC AIDS Memorial and the sculpture commissioned by New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo to honor New York’s LGBTQ community, as well as the Amida Care members who won our most recent calendar art competition.
