Amida Care Supports New CDC Guideline for Opiod Use
As you may know, in March 2016 the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) published a guideline for the use of opioids in the treatment of chronic pain. Amida Care has been aware of the risks to New Yorkers from opioids. We welcome this guideline as an additional resource for providers. Showing Respect for the Transgender Community
Nathan Levitt, BSN, RN, a nurse-practitioner who serves as a community outreach and education nurse with Callen-Lorde Community Health Center in New York, speaks often to community organizations, schools, and health care organizations about the needs of LGBT people and families. Levitt, who is also a practicing oncology nurse at Brooklyn’s Maimonides Health Center, offers advice about how to ensure that transgender individuals are treated respectfully.

Effective March 27, 2016, electronic prescribing for both controlled and non-controlled substances will be required in New York State. The laws regarding issuing and dispensing prescriptions for controlled substances have not changed. Only the format has changed.

Reminder to Medicare Part D Prescribers: Enroll by January to Prepare for the June 2016 Deadline
Amida Care would like to alert our providers that under federal regulation, all clinicians who prescribe Part D drugs for Medicare beneficiaries must enroll in Medicare by June 1, 2016 – and they are advised to enroll by January to avoid processing delays.
